Wimbledon Common Stormy Skies captures the dramatic contrast between an approaching storm and the warmth of sunlight breaking through. A stand of silver birch trees glows against a vivid teal sky, their luminous yellow foliage creating a striking interplay of colour, light and atmosphere.
Built with layered acrylic paint and gold and silver leaf, the textured surface reflects changing light, bringing movement and depth to the landscape. Inspired by walks across Wimbledon Common, the painting celebrates those fleeting moments when nature transforms under shifting skies.
Wimbledon Common Stormy Skies, Part of my continuing exploration of immersive landscapes, this work invites the viewer to step into the scene and experience the restorative power of the natural world.
