Crepuscular Rays
Oil & gold leaf on board
22 x 32 cm framed
Crepuscular Rays takes its name from the beautiful phenomenon of light filtering through mist and trees at dawn. This work captures the soft drama of early morning on Wimbledon Common, where diffused sunlight streams through the trees.
Layered oil paint and gold leaf are built up gradually across the surface, with white gold leaf at the heart to suggest the rising sun breaking through the mist.
Inspired by early walks from Windmill Car Park across the golf course, this scene for me reflects shared friendship.
